Stockholm: The traditional Scandinavian phone box
Description
The traditional Scandinavian phone box – made of wood and steel, the design incorporates stilts so it doesn’t get snowed in.
This old wooden telephone box was in Mosebacke square ,Soder Malm. Phone kiosks were first introduced in Sweden in the late 19th century. In 2008 when this photograph was taken the box was still operational. In 2015 the last phone box in Sweden was disconnected. With the advent of the mobile phone they were no longer being used. Rikstelefon means the telephone could connect between cities.
